Learning Targets

In order to be successful in my class, it is important to "HIT "or understand the learning target each day! 

ELA Learning Targets

  •  I CAN: read a variety of short passages and determine the text structure.  

  • I CAN: draw conclusions and make  inferences on what the text implicitly states

  • I CAN: Analyze a text for implicit and explicit meaning

  •  I CAN:  Analyze the development of two or more central ideas throughout a text. 

  • I CAN: compare and contrast paired texts determining the similarities and differences of each.  

  • I CAN: develop a thesis statement that includes 3 claims. 

  • I CAN: cite relevant evidence using sentence starters to support claims in my writing. 

  • I CAN: develop topic sentences for each body paragraph to incorporate into my compare and contrast essay.

  • I CAN: identify and evaluate key points on both sides of an argument 

  • I CAN: formulate claims and provide textual and statistical evidence to support my claim

  • I CAN: analyze and distinguish the differences between a claim and a counterclaim 

Social Studies Learning Targets

I CAN: compare/constrast the differences between delinquent and unruly behavior.
I CAN: explain the steps of the juvenile justice system
I CAN: examine the rights of juveniles in the juvenile justice system
